Ronald T. Podsiadlo, 73, of Westford, formerly of Concord, died Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Steates) Podsiadlo.
Born in Amityville, New York on September 16, 1936 he was the son of the late John and Josephine (Dziegelewski) Podsiadlo. He grew up in Bethpage and Farmingdale, New York and graduated in 1954 from Weldon E. Howitt High School, and in 1958 he received a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from St. Louis University. He later received a Masters in Meteorology from MIT in Cambridge and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government.
During the Vietnam era, from 1958 to 1967, he served in the United States Air Force as a Commissioned Officer and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
For 38 years, Mr. Podsiadlo was a Research Scientist and Administrator for the U. S. Air Force Geophysics Laboratory at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford.
A thirty-year resident of Concord, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed bird watching and photography. Following his retirement 1997, he moved to Westford and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Ron was naturally and effortlessly an extraordinarily gentle, peaceful, accepting and loving person.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by one son, Benjamin Podsiadlo and his wife Elizabeth (McElman) of Groton, one daughter, Katya Podsiadlo and her husband Guy Harris of Jamaica Plain, four grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Podsiadlo and Alexander and Konstantine Harris, two brothers, John Podsiadlo of Farmingdale, NY and Arthur Podsiadlo of Geneseo, Illinois, three sisters, Gloria Kennelly of Middleton, Wisconsin, Barbara Donolli of Greenport, New York and Josephine Dubrowsky of Hampton Bays, New York.
Funeral will be held on Monday, January 25th from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center at 9AM followed by a funeral Mass in Holy Family Parish, Monument Street, Concord Center at 10AM.
Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord.
Visiting hours at the Dee Funeral Home will be held on Sunday, January 24th from 2 to 5 PM.
